This dev diary is going to be unusual, and here's why! Usually, in their diaries, the guys from our team tell you about upcoming changes to the game and the ideas behind these changes.
Today, however, it is going to be different: we'd like to share a project for a new event with you! Why so?
It is important to us that the events in the game are truly exciting for you, so we decided to tell you about the concept of the new event at a very early stage. We would greatly appreciate your feedback at this early stage; tell us how you feel, highlight any parts that pique your interest, and suggest ways we can make it better. We're open for discussion!
We are happy to introduce you to our developer Dima, the author of this concept.
Dima, tell us about the atmosphere of the new event.
Imagine a city full of secrets. Here, a mystery awaits around every corner, and chance encounters might lead to revelations you never saw coming.
At this event, players can put themselves in the shoes of true detectives as they delve into complex tales, decipher enigmas, and aid the citizens.
We've never had anything like this before! Usually, events in the game take place either in the event window or in a separate location.
Indeed, this will be an entirely novel approach to engaging with the city! The player will be tasked with deciphering a complex storyline that serves as the major plot. Furthermore, side tasks will be available so that players can explore at their own leisure and uncover other mysteries, if they so desire. The opportunity to level up your character's stats (movement speed, vigilance, etc.) will also be available, allowing players to finish quests more quickly.
During the event, I envision players doing more than simply clicking on buildings; they will actively seek out clues about the plot. Essential gameplay elements include quests that push the player to investigate the city, find uncharted areas, and engage with various objects and characters.
Are you saying that you would like to take our players to an actual, livable city?
I couldn't agree more! Unpredictable events will occur, players will discover treasure chests filled with precious resources and surprises, and they will meet interesting characters who may offer special missions or gifts. The city will be dynamic!
In order to make things more interesting and give players an incentive to go back to areas they've already explored, I'd like to include random quests into the event that will pop up in various parts of the city.
What is important for you to learn from our players at the concept stage?
I need to know how intriguing the concept is in theory before I can proceed. Would they be interested in this event format? The value of continuing to develop this idea and how to make it better can be better gauged with the help of feedback from a large audience.
