Chests is an event for players level 15 and above: you collect keys during play and use them to open chests, with a guaranteed prize from every chest you open. There are three chest types—Standard (9 keys), Enhanced (18 keys), and Super (27 keys)—and you may open any mix; more expensive chests contain fewer small decorative items and give a higher chance of building-type rewards. One chest of each type in a given run will include the main reward, but you can receive that top prize only once per event; after you obtain it, it will no longer appear in other chests. Keys usually come from simple quests on the left side of the screen, from certain city buildings that drop keys on a timer, and from occasional special offers, making it easy to keep progressing at a comfortable pace.

Glossary

  • Keys: The resource you spend to open chests; different chest types require 9, 18, or 27 keys.
  • Standard Chest: A chest that costs 9 keys; you can open up to 45 per event, and one of those Standard Chests will contain the main reward.
  • Enhanced Chest: A chest that costs 18 keys; you can open up to 30, it contains fewer small decor items than Standard, has a higher chance of building-type rewards, and one Enhanced Chest will contain the main reward.
  • Super Chest: A chest that costs 27 keys; you can open up to 15, it contains no small decor and more building-type rewards than other types, and one Super Chest will contain the main reward.
  • Guaranteed prize: Every chest you open grants a prize, so each use of keys results in a reward without exceptions.
  • Main reward: The top building-type prize that appears once per event; after you obtain it from any chest type, it is removed from all remaining chests for that event.
  • Chest limits: Each chest type has a maximum number you can open during the event—45 Standard, 30 Enhanced, and 15 Super—so you can plan how to use your keys.
  • Mixing chest types: You may open any combination of Standard, Enhanced, and Super Chests; you are not required to stick to a single type.
  • Key quests: A sequence of simple quests that appear one after another on the left side of the screen; completing them awards keys.
  • City buildings (key sources): Certain buildings in your city drop keys on a timer—for example, some give 1 key every 8 or 24 hours, and others give 2–3 keys every 24 hours.
  • Special offers (key sources): Event offers may include keys directly, providing another way to keep opening chests during the event.

Using keys & opening chests

You can locate the chests in the main event window:

There are three types of chests: stanadard, enhanced, and super. You can choose a chest by clicking on the blue arrows next to the chest:

Let's go over the types of chests:

  • Standard Chest

A Standard Chest costs 9 keys to open. During a single run of the event, you can open up to 45 Standard Chests in total, so you can plan your keys accordingly. Exactly one of these Standard Chests will contain the main reward, which is a building, and once you obtain it, the remaining Standard Chests will no longer include that top prize.

  • Enhanced Chest

An Enhanced Chest costs 18 keys to open. During a single run of the event, you can open up to 30 Enhanced Chests in total, so you can plan how to use your keys in advance. Compared with Standard Chests, Enhanced Chests contain fewer small decorative items and give a higher chance of receiving building-type rewards, including the main prize. Exactly one of those 30 Enhanced Chests will contain the main reward; once you obtain it, the remaining Enhanced Chests in this run will no longer include that top prize.

  • Super Chest

Super Chest costs 27 keys to open. During a single run of the event, you can open up to 15 Super Chests in total, so it is easy to plan how many keys you will need. These chests do not include small decorative items; instead, they focus on building-type rewards and offer more of them than the other chest types. The chance to receive the main reward from a Super Chest is higher than from a Standard Chest. Exactly one of the 15 Super Chests in this event run will contain the main reward; after you obtain it, the remaining Super Chests will no longer include that top prize.

You can get the main reward only once per event. After you obtain it from any chest type, it is blocked in all remaining chests for that event.

Rewards from the Chests

You can see the rewards you can receive on the right side of the event window. At the top, you will see the main reward: a special building that changes in each event. At the bottom, you will see the minor rewards you may also receive from the chests.
